Inspired by the French Navy and developed to ensure maximum precision and reliability in the adverse real-world conditions endured by personnel of the Aéronautique Navale, the aviation component of the French Navy.
Specifically engineered for riders of the TUDOR Pro Cycling Team, TUDOR is unveiling a brand new Pelagos FXD model: a cycling-themed chronograph made with light weight and functionality in mind. With a carbon composite case fitted with a high-performance Manufacture Calibre, this watch echoes the daring spirit of a team competing in some of the most challenging cycling races around the world, including, from 2024, the Giro d’Italia.
The Pelagos FXD model, where FXD refers to the extra robust fixed strap bars of the case, was developed in conjunction with the French Navy’s combat swimmers. Waterproof to 200m (660 ft), it was designed for underwater navigation and is optimized for professional use.
Also in the range is a model that pays tribute to the decades of TUDOR watches on the wrists of US Navy divers. Complete with fixed strap bars, a titanium case, a high-performance Manufacture Calibre and a unidirectional elapsed-time rotating bezel, it comes as the ultimate modern “Milsub” (short for Military Submariner) of yesteryear.
Visually in line with a late ’60s-era TUDOR Oyster Prince Submariner; it incorporates elements from the US military specifications for diving watches. In short, the FXD range is the product of TUDOR’s cooperation with two military organisations.
Two Pelagos FXD models celebrate TUDOR’s partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing: a chronograph and a time-only watch inspired by the most competitive yacht racing.
Featuring grade 2 titanium, luminescent ceramic composite monobloc hour markers, a rapid adjustment system for the clasp and a diver’s extension, the Pelagos 39 model combines TUDOR’s professional dive watch heritage with the versatility of a 39-millimetre case and the striking radiance of sunray satin finishes on its bezel and dial.
The result is a sports watch that boasts both cutting-edge watchmaking technology and a chic aesthetic, as at ease in the city as on the shore.
The TUDOR Pelagos is also available in a “left-handed” version. This new TUDOR Pelagos evokes the brand’s history of dive watches designed specifically for left-handed French Navy professional divers during the 1970s.
A magnificent example of a tool watch and symbol of adventure, the Pelagos is one of the most complete traditional mechanical divers’ watches available today, waterproof to 500 m (1,640 ft). In addition to its original matt black version, this model is also available in matt blue, the emblematic colour of the brand’s divers’ watches since the 1960s.
