Tudor Black Bay needs no introduction. However, we are going to remind you about importance of this highly versatile wristwatch. At the same time, we will point out the subtle elegance of the blue bezel version. The Black Bay is Tudor’s vintage-inspired diver and was launched at renowed Baselworld 2012.
Created with a vintage-effect details and big crown, the Black Bay has been a big hit from day one. The Black Bay clearly redefined the brand and put it back on the road to success. The Black Bay was – and still is – the brand’s best seller and will remain the milestone of Tudor’s recent history
The Black Bay was positioned as a modern-sized, but historically-inspired dive watch with contemporary specifications and vintage design elements.
With a diameter of 41mm, its case was shaped according to proven standards: thin lugs, polished bezel on the side of the case and non-protected oversized crown.
If the look was clearly vintage, the rest, such as quality, feel and dimension was entirely contemporary oriented. As we mentioned before, six decades of Tudor heritage culminates in this stunning collection.
Here, the Black Bay wristwatch is presented in a steel casing and black watch face in tandem with a matt blue steel bezel. The matte dial has a large triangle marker at 12 o’clock, baton indexes at 3, 6 and 9 – and circular indexes for the other eight hour markers.
However, while the original hour markers were printed on the dial, the Black Bay has applied indexes with metal surrounds which are filled with luminous material. Moreover, the surrounds are polished, resulting in a perfect contrast against the matte black background and adding great depth to the dial. The cool colour combination and clean lines mean that this piece simply exudes elegance and sophistication.
Function is at the forefront here, with a sizeable crown, power reserve of approximately 70 hours and waterproofing of up to 200m / 660ft on offer. Design is not neglected however, as the Tudor Heritage Black Bay with matt blue bezel comes with a beautiful steel bracelet with folding buckle and safety clasp to provide the wearer with some comforting security during water sports activities.
The Heritage Black Bay has been a very successful model for atelier Tudor and the blue bezel iteration is no exception. Powered by an automatic self winding Calibre MT5602 with 70 hour power reserve, this striking watch is here presented on a stainless steel bracelet.
With a unidirectional bezel, oversized crown, and domed sapphire crystal, the Black Bay is also available on leather strap or a bespoke fabric Tudor fabric strap. At 41 mm, it’s an ideal size for an everyday sport watch and the 50 mm lug to lug ensures a good fit on the most wrist sizes.
