The Yacht-Master range, composed of the Yacht-Master 37, Yacht-Master 40, Yacht-Master 42 and Yacht-Master II lines, is inspired by the rich heritage that has bound Rolex to the world of sailing since the 1950s. The Yacht-Master 42, with its waterproof and robust qualities, is the ideal watch for water sports and sailing in particular.
A blend of function and style, the Yacht-Master 42 features the characteristic design elements of Rolex Professional watches.
These include a high-contrast dial with geometric shaped hour markers, a unique hands set, and magnified date display, as well as a graduated bezel, gracefully styled Oyster case and beautifully integrated bracelet. This genuinely iconic look is now presented in a grand, yet characteristically proportionate way in the form of the 42-millimetre-wide Yacht-Master 42.
Its lustrous exterior is crafted using 18ct white gold from Rolex’s proprietary gold foundry, finished to perfection by bringing gold’s unmatched sheen to the fore on every surface. The lugs gently curve inwards and downwards to create the flowing lines of the Oyster case – a special monobloc design that is especially robust and hence ideally suited for a timepiece of the open seas. The 18ct white gold bezel incorporates a matt black Cerachrom insert in highly scratch-resistant ceramic with polished and raised numerals and graduations. Set against the matt backdrop, these polished numerals and graduations complement the reflectivity of the 18ct white gold hands and hour marker surrounds. This functional bezel – which allows the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – is also a key component in the model’s distinctive visual identity.
Uncompromised legibility is of utmost importance for every model in the Rolex Professional range and the Yacht-Master 42 is no exception to this rule.
Set against a black lacquer dial, the hands and hour markers are shaped in such a way that they can be easily distinguished: reading the time at a glance is simple, error-proof and convenient.
Vastly extending the range of circumstances where the Yacht-Master 42 can really shine is the Chromalight display that provides a long-lasting blue luminescence to the hands and hour markers. The Cyclops magnifying lens – first introduced in 1953 with the Rolex Datejust and an instantly recognizable component of Rolex design ever since – is situated at the 3 o’clock position to assist with reading the date display.
The Yacht-Master 42’s Manufacture Rolex calibre 3235 stands at the forefront of the art of watchmaking. Set amongst the latest generation of Rolex calibres, 3235 provides an extended power reserve that now reaches approximately 70 hours, courtesy, in part, of its entirely re-designed movement construction. Its Parachrom hairspring is paramagnetic to safeguard its precise timekeeping performance in tandem with the high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers that keep the balance wheel assembly safe from various impact forces.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 is available exclusively on the Rolex Oysterflex bracelet. Crafted using flexible metal blades overmoulded with high-performance elastomer, it combines long-lasting wearing comfort with a sporty aesthetic – a perfect match to the Yacht-Master range. A folding Oysterlock safety clasp with Rolex Glidelock extension system allows the wearer to easily adjust the precise length of the bracelet without the use of any tools.
A perfect blend of functionality and nautical style, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 is the ideal watch for adventures ashore and offshore alike, while its outstanding quality of craftsmanship and execution mark its spot at the forefront of modern watchmaking.
We would be delighted to show you the Yacht-Master collection in our Petite Genève Petrović Rolex Boutiques in Budapest, Belgrade and Porto Montenegro.
