The discreet hero
In 1954, Tudor set out on a new path in wristwatch lineup. It was in the year when first Tudor divers watch the Oyster Prince Submariner saw the light of day. Over the past six years the Tudor Heritage Black Bay has grown into an important and attractive watch collection. Now we have the pleasure to introduce the contemporary version from Heritage line – Black Bay Dark, which also benefits from the new in-house movement upgrade. Meet the divers’ watch created almost entirely in black tones.
A tradition with a contemporary twist
During the past few years, all-black watches are extremely popular, because it is the colour that perfectly matches every style. The Black Bay Dark is actually all-black version of Tudor's popular diver and it provides a totally different visual experience. The design identity is strong and full of character. It’s a monochromatic watch, the black and white colour scheme, with a little red details. The dial has a matte finish and the rotating bezel has a shiny aluminium track.
A wide range of different straps and bracelets continues to add variety. Each watch comes with either a three-row stainless-steel bracelet or an antiqued leather strap and a fabric strap is always included with either option. This fabric bracelet is synonymous to comfort and discreetness. No matter which you choose, all three preserve the visual harmony that makes the watch special.
The evolution of a legend
Tudor Black Bay is one of the rare modern creations that has succeeded in recreating the identity with an impact, derived from the roots of its history. This sports-design watch follows in the tradition of the Tudor Oyster Submariner of 1954; its clean dial simply has eight round and three rectangular hour markers and one triangular marker at 12 o’clock. And, perfection is in the details. The striking hour and seconds hands with their distinctive “snowflake” shapes can be traced to the second Submariner generation, which was presented by Tudor in 1969. The screw-down crown is inscribed with a Tudor rose emblem, and the watch’s water resistance is 200 meters.
A high-performance calibre of excellent precision and proven robustness offers a 70-hour power reserve
Aside from 41 millimeter case in steel, finished with a black PVD-treated coating, the other major upgrade that the Black Bay Dark received recently is Tudor’s own MT5602. Along with carrying that in-house designation, the COSC-certified movement operates at 28,800bph and manages to deliver a very respectable 70-hour power reserve. It displays hours, minutes and seconds and bears the reference MT5602 sign.
